M. Night Shyamalan is a film producer and screenwriter recognized for his supernatural plots. He was known for directing his famous film, “The sixth sense.” The film was launched in the year 199. He was born in India in 1970. He later moved to the United States together with his family where he became a renowned screenwriter and a film director. Before he graduated, from New York University, m. Night Shyamalan had written, directed and acted in his full-length feature. His most famous films is titled “The sixth sense” which he released in 1999. m. Night Shyamalan has directed many other films like praying in anger (1992), wide awake (1998), unbreakable (2000), signs (2002), the Village (2004), lady in the water (2006), the happening (2008), the Last Airbender (2010), After Earth (2013), The Visit (2015), Split (2016). m. Night Shyamalan got married to Bhuvna Vaswani, his fellow student at the New York University. The couple has three daughters. M. Night Shyamalan was born in Mahe’, Pondicherry India. As a child, he had always dreamed of becoming a filmmaker. His parents encouraged him by gifting him a camera at a tender age of ten years. He was raised a Hindu. M. Night Shyamalan went to a Catholic private School and after completing his basic studies there, he went to Philadelphia’s Episcopal Academy and afterward, he went to New York University and graduated as a film major in 1993. M. Night Shyamalan first film titled “Praying With Anger,” is a story of an Indian-American who after completing his high school in the United States; returns to India to attend College. Because of the location where the film was acted and a relatively small budget, it received very little notice from audiences and critics. In 1993, he sold his second screenplay titled “Labor of Love” to Fox. The making of the film was not a success because the studio failed to hire M. Night Shyamalan as the director of the film. In 1995, a new and up-coming film Studio called Miramax bought his screenplay for the amount of $250,000 with the agreement of directing it and also acting it in Philadelphia. The film was a story of a young boy who searched for God after the decease of his own father. It got great comments but did not get much publicity. In 1997, he signed a contract to re-write the scripts of a screenplay titled “Stuart Little.” The screenplay was released in 1999. It starred Michael Jackson as Fox. The film gain publicity more than the recent ones. After Stuart Little, M. Night Shyamalan directed the famous film titled “The Sixth Sense.” In the same year, the film became very popular and was worth $600 million in early 2000. The film starred Bruce Willies as a physician and a child psychologist and Haley Joel Osmond, an eleven-year-old kid, visited by ghosts. The film earned six Academy Award nominations, including one for best picture, best original screenplay and also best director for M. Night Shyamalan. Because of the fame, he earned from directing “The Sixth Sense.” M. Night Shyamalan received $5 million for his next screenplay titled “Unbreakable.” The film was released in late 2000. It became one of the most anticipated movies of the year; it starred Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. The film gains publicity even though not as much as his next screenplay titled “Signs.” The film was released in 2002; it starred Mal Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix. It was worth $400 million. The story is about a family’s experience with some unearthly creatures found on their farm. After the great success of Signs, he released a film titled “The Village” in 2004. The film starred a strong cast of Joaquin Phoenix, Bryce Dallas Howard, and William Hurt. It was a story of some people in a rural setting who faced some challenges with creatures that lived in the woods surrounding their village. The film was a discouragement for M. Night Shyamalan as it received mixed reviews and did not gain much publicity. In 2006, he released a film titled “Lady in the Water,” starring himself in the film. The film was a bedtime story of M. Night Shyamalan. However, the film is the most disappointing figure of his career. It received many awful criticisms. The character he played in the film received a Razzie Award for worst supporting actor. He discussed the film in an interview, pointing out that the movie was the only movie that lost much money for the studio. He claimed not to have gotten the chance to make it gain publicity because he did not know how to sell it. However, after two subsequent films, M. Night Shyamalan stepped up to tackle his career challenges. He released the screenplay titled “The Happening” in 2008. The film is categorized as an environmental thriller. It starred Zooey and Mark Wahlberg. It is a story about a couple who tried to run away from a natural plague. The film made $30 million. But soon after, its publicity declined. In 2010, M. Night Shyamalan released the film titled “The Last Airbender,” the film was made based on the animated children television series. But the film did not earn publicity and was harshly criticized by some critics as: Roger Ebert described watching it as an agonizing experience. In 2013, M. Night Shyamalan released the science fiction film titled “After Earth” which he co-wrote with Garry Whitta. However, the film was originally the idea of Will Smith. The film starred real father and son, Will and Jaden Smith. It was about a father who was a high ranking general and his son who were faced with a tough assault by some aliens in the ship they resided. The film takes place in the 31st century when the planet earth was attacked by some aliens, the father and the son, however, must do all it takes to save the earth. After the release of the film, it was attacked by many critics pointing it out to be a Melodramatic acting, the storytelling and the writing. But however, it still received some good comments on it shoots, sequences of action, effects and soundtrack. The film was worth $243 million after an estimated cost of production of $130 million. It was a huge disappointment for Box office. In 2015, M. Night Shyamalan released another film titled “The Visit.” The film was categorized as a Horror film. It starred Ed Oxenbould, Olivia DeJonge, Ed Oxenbould, Peter McRobbie, and Kathryn Hahn.the movie received mixed reviews. But however, it still received good comments towards the performance of the child actors, the scenario, the script and finding a mixed view of whether it is a horror or comedy or both. But still, it was a success at the box office and is often seen as the return of M. Night Shyamalan. And finally, in 2016, M. Night Shyamalan released an American psychological horror thriller film. The film starred James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Betty Buckley. The storyline was about a man who kidnaps and imprisoned three teenage girls in a basement. The movie generally received a great review and was worth $257. M. Night Shyamalan did not only directed and produced films; he also starred in and produced TV series. He starred in a TV series titled “Entourage” a comedy-drama that premiered in from on HBO from the 18th of July, 2004 to 11th of September, 2011. The story was mostly written by Doug Ellin. He also directed and produced a science fiction TV series titled “Wayward Pines”. The series was based on the Wayward Pines Novels by Blake Crouch. The series premiered on Fox from the 14th of May 2015 and rounded up its first season on the 23rd of July 2015. M. Night Shyamalan also produced an American Horror Anthology TV series titled “Tales from the Crypt” sometimes referred to as “HBO’S Tales from the Crypt.” The TV series aired from the 10th of July 1989 and ended on the 19th of July, 1996.
