Digital Box Office: New Streaming Platform Sparks Revolution for Indie Filmmakers

We’ve just discovered a new global streaming platform that’s looking to completely disrupt the status quo of the traditional entertainment distribution model. Digital box office (DBO) which launched their public beta just a few weeks ago, is already currently streaming films in 256 countries/territories around the world on iOS  Android and Web devices. We’re told their native television apps for AmazonFire, Apple TV, and Android TV are due out later this Spring. From all appearances, DBO looks like the fastest growing curated global streaming site in history.

The service is the first platform to offer previously unseen, high-quality first-run films and other great content to the public for free with no cost to the consumer and no commercial interruptions. Additionally, becoming a member requires no credit card.

This is especially exciting news for to the independent film community. Out of an estimated 50,000 films produced each year,  less than 600 major films are ever released according to the MPAA.

The service will be a data mine for Hollywood and for the filmmakers as DBO’s users are required to vote on the content that they watch on the platform via DBO’s proprietary simple one click voting model. Surprisingly, film studios, television networks, and production companies have no reliable platform and methodology to test new content and waste billions annually on failed films, pilots, and shows that can now be tested globally on DBO’s platform before determining commercial viability for wide release.

Sources tell us, DBO already has thousands of filmmakers submitting their films, including feature films, shorts, and tv series. New content is added daily and all content is previewed on DBO’s global platform for 90 days. This keeps Digital Box Office always blooming with new and unique content.

DBO’s provides a dramatic new opportunity for filmmakers to obtain valuable data while gaining previously unavailable exposure and data. moreover, studios, distributors and content creators finally have a viable and reliable mechanism to test their wares, while consumers get to watch great new content for free.
